The Baobab on Lower Main is in Observatory, Cape Town.  We are on a bustling corner of this historic suburb, surrounded by small businesses and private homes that are among the oldest buildings in South Africa.


We provide comfortable, affordable and high quality accommodation that is ideally located, close to the public transport network (walking distance to the train station and taxis), and to the humming nightlife that characterises the area.  Whether you need transport, internet access, groceries, take-out food, pubs, restaurants – it’s all a short walk away.

We are ideally located for young adults and students. We are about 300 metres away from a CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) residence, 350 metres away from the train station, 450 metres away from the AFDA film school, 800 metres away from a UCT (University of Cape Town) Jammie Shuttle pickup point, less than a kilometre from the UCT Medical School Residence which is located near the Groote Schuur Hospital, Medical School and a few other UCT and CPUT residences. We are a 10 minute drive to and from the airport, and a six minute train journey away from the city centre (less than 2km away).

 

We are a large multistorey building consisting of 40 rooms over 3 levels with a variety of accomodation options. We are able to provide for both long term local student accomodation, as well as shorter term needs of foreign students, interns and backpackers.
